We have been in school for a little over 3 weeks. It has been a world win of activity. The beginning of the year for first graders is not always easy. They have to adjust to a new teacher, a new classroom, and new classroom rules. We always begin the year by learning our routines and procedures, and getting our beginning of the year assessments done. Then we can get down to the business of learning.
First grade is a demanding year academically as well. These little guys and gals are learning so many new things. I am always impressed with their willingness to do so and their enthusiasm. This year has some extra challenges. We have a very long interlude between snack and lunch. We have many students new to our school and we have to go out of our classroom to use the bathroom. All in all, we are handling these challenges very well. We are welcoming the new students into our Meadow View family, learning to use the bathroom at recess and lunch, and eat extra food at recess so that we can make it until lunch. I cannot wait to see what the year holds for us. It is always a new adventure!
